About the Program

Students of this program can take courses from the recreational sports branches and exercises for health areas in addition to those from the sports performance branches. They can also take common courses from the Physical Education and Sports Teaching Program; Coaching Education; and Sports Management. They can also take elective courses offered to all programs under the School of Physical Education and Sports.

Educational Opportunities

Recreation Program students can choose Disability and Recreation; Recreation Management and Local Authorities; or Recreation modules as of the third year in order to have additional specialization opportunities. They can pursue a further academic education through a Master’s Degree and a Doctorate Degree in Physical Education and Sports. Graduates can also obtain a Level 1 Sports Trainer Certificate in a sports branch they study during their undergraduate. Bachelor’s degree graduates can teach physical education and sports if they take pedagogical formation, and they will also be eligible to apply for Sports Trainer courses and be exempted from the undergraduate courses they have taken in different sports branches and earn Level 1, 2 and 3 Sports Trainer Certificates. Our Bachelor’s degree graduates can also provide training in sports areas with the Sports Trainer certificates.

Career Areas

Students who graduate from the Recreation Program can be employed in fitness centers, and health centers; they can be sports facilitators for local administrations, and sport animators in tourism centers, water-sports centers, and exercise centers for disabled people. Graduates who take the Pedagogical Formation Courses become Physical Education Teachers. Graduates are able to take part in the promotion and marketing of sports equipment, materials, and clothing in sports organization trade fairs. They are also preferred in the marketing and sale of sports product brands as professionals. Graduates of the School of Physical Education and Sports can participate in certificate courses during their undergraduate education and add specialized trainings to their CVs.

The main aim of this course is to provide the students with the knowledge of communication; understanding, listening, self-expression, understanding speech and communication through body language. The course introduces students with basic speech patterns at the elementary level. Through listening students will identify different sound rhythms and practice pronounciation of letters, words and phrases. Through speaking students will identify different register and use the given language in an appropriate way. In addition students will be able to define themselves or others, answer questions in the Present Simple tense, use the prepositions of place, and talk about their daily routines. Through reading students read paragraphs and simple texts to improve their general comprehension of the passages, and answer the given comprehension questions. INGL152 is the continuation of INGL151. The course integrates the four main skills at a higher elementary level for students. Through recessive skills, which are listening and reading, students identify different sound rhythms and practice the pronunciation of letters, words and phrases. Also, by reading higher level paragraphs and texts, students infer the meaning of new words by using their existing vocabulary. Through productive skills, which are speaking and writing, students identify different register and use the given language in an appropriate way. Furthermore, students use the Present Continuous and Past Simple tenses to participate in basic dialogues and daily exchanges, and express themselves effectively.
