“Healing Libraries” Emphasized at CIU Library

The Library Directorate of Cyprus International University (CIU) shared its evaluation on the theme “Healing Libraries,” designated for the 62nd anniversary of Library Week. Within this scope, attention was drawn to the role of libraries in individual and social life, emphasizing the importance of access to information and the promotion of a reading culture.

The Library Directorate stated that libraries are not merely spaces that provide books and information resources, but also living environments that contribute to individuals’ intellectual, social, and cultural development, while supporting mental and emotional well-being. In this context, the importance of quiet and safe study environments that support users’ intellectual production processes was also highlighted.

It was noted that the CIU Library contributes to academic processes through its printed and electronic resources, modern study areas, computer laboratory, and support services. The library collection is developed to meet the needs of students and academic staff across various research fields, while electronic resources are regularly updated to provide fast and reliable access to information. In this way, it contributes to improving the quality of academic studies.

The Library Directorate emphasized that libraries are open, equitable, and inclusive structures accessible to users of all ages, and highlighted their importance in supporting research and learning processes. It was also stated that Library Week raises awareness about the more effective use of library resources and contributes to the dissemination of a reading culture.
