CIU Organizes Technical Visit to BRT

As part of the ongoing faculty activities throughout the year, the Faculty of Communication at Cyprus International University (CIU) organized a technical visit to the Bayrak Radio Television Corporation (BRTK). The visit aimed to strengthen students' connections with the industry and provide them with the opportunity to observe the radio and television broadcasting at one of the most established media institutions in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Göral Erinç Fundalar, Head of the Radio, Television, and Cinema (RTS) Department at the Faculty of Communication, stated, "The history of BRTK is intertwined with the history of the Turkish Cypriots, and since Bayrak Radio was established during the national struggle years for communication and news purposes, it was extremely important for our students to reinforce their theoretical knowledge about the social significance of communication tools."

Fundalar continued, "Our visit began with BRTK Director Meryem Çavuşoğlu Özkurt introducing us to the institution's history, while showcasing an exhibition of old equipment from the early years of the establishment, displayed at the building's entrance. Under the guidance of Ms. Özkurt, our students also toured the newsroom, control room, and studio."
Acting Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dilan Çiftçi, expressed her satisfaction with the students' interest in the visit and emphasized that the Faculty of Communication would continue to organize industry-related events throughout the year to connect students with the professional world.
