Artificial Intelligence and the future of Libraries
Cyprus International University (CIU) is preparing to celebrate the 61st Library Week between March 22 and April 7, and this year the theme is “Artificial Intelligence-Enhanced Libraries: Information Centers of the Future”. The events will focus primarily on the integration of artificial intelligence into library services, next-generation solutions to information access, and the digital transformation of academic publishing.
The week will begin with CIU’s traditional “Time to Meet: the Book” event. This will be followed by the “Literary talks” session that will host Cypriot writers Senem Gökel, Emrah Öztürk and Hakan Karahasan. The impact of artificial intelligence on libraries will be discussed by Prof. Dr. Bülent Yılmaz from Hacettepe University and academics from Istanbul Doğuş University in the seminar on “Information Centers of the Future” .
The events will continue at Rüstem Bookstore with a special talk on folklore/literature, one of the most prestigious academic journals published in Cyprus. CIU Library Director Özlem Araz said, “Parallel to changing times, access to information is also changing rapidly; artificial intelligence-supported libraries are no longer a dream, but a necessity. The events that will take place this week will raise awareness and thus draw attention to this transformation.”
Araz stated that all events are open to the public and that participants can access the detailed program through CIU’s website and social media accounts.
