61st Library Week Activities
Various activities are organized at CIU during the week of March 22nd through April 7th to celebrate the 61st Library Week.
The celebrations started on March 22nd with the “12th Traditional Meeting with Books” event organized by the Library Club. Every year this event is held at Büyük Han, and students wearing fox costumes which is the mascot of CIU, invite the society to foster their reading and learning skills.
“Literary Conversations” session began on March 24th with CIU Rector Prof. Dr. Halil Nadiri delivering the opening speech. The session continued with Poet Senem Gökel and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mihrican Aylanç discussing, “Who does poetry actually belong to? The reader or the poet? What inspires and motivates you when writing poetry?”
Yunus Nadi award-winning author Emrah Öztürk was the speaker on March 25th and discussed issues related to literature. Emrah Öztürk shared his writing adventure with the audience, with an emphasis on rise from the local to the universal in literature.
On March 25th at 6 pm a talk on academic publishing was held at Rüstem Bookstore and with Dr. Salamis Ayşegül Şentuğ as the moderator hosted Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mihrican Aylanç, the editor of the journal folklore/literature which is indexed in world web of science.
In the talk organized by the Library Club held on March 26th at 2 pm, Hakan Karahasan was the guest speaker and was asked questions from the standpoint of students.
On April 7 at 2:30 pm, "Information Centers of the Future" will be discussed with academics. As part of this event, Prof. Dr. Bülent Yılmaz, Prof. Dr. Mesut Yalvaç and Dr. Yusuf Yalçın will share their predictions about what awaits us in the future as artificial intelligence is changing our world.
In addition to these events and talks, the 61st Library Week will continue to be celebrated throughout the week with various events taking place simultaneously such as Artificial Intelligence themed poster presentations at CIU, the "Open Mic" event held in the Student Center, and various competitions to be held in the library.
