114th issue of CIU folklore/literature Journal published

May-114th issue of the scientific journal folklore/literature  has been published digitally and in hard copy by Cyprus International University (CIU).  The journal is included in the Web of Science which is accepted as the most prestigious index of academic publications in the world.

In this issue of the international peer-reviewed journal which is published four times a year, Prof. Dr. Ben Dan-Amos, one of the most respected American scientists in the world in the field of folklore, also has an article that will be a good source of reference for those working on folk studies.

Making a statement on the subject, the editor of the journal Prof. Dr. Metin Karadağ said, "It is very meaningful for our journal and the scientific world that the late professor, who has hardly published any articles outside the USA, wanted to publish his last article in our journal."

Karadağ stated that Ben-Amos received the cover of the magazine a week before his death and that he was very happy to see it, and said, “We were sad but at the same time happy to dedicate the cover of the 114th issue  to Dr. Amos, and we wanted to thank him by putting the tag 'In memory of Dan Ben-Amos' on the cover. In addition, Ben-Amos's doctoral student Prof. Dr. Arzu Öztürkmen from Bosporus University has a valuable commemorative article about the scholar published in this issue.”

Karadağ noted that one of the universally respected names of folk studies, Prof. Dr. Hande Birkan-Gedik from the University of Frankfurt  has contributed significantly to folklore theories with her article entitled “Disciplines and Post-Disciplinary Histories: Theory, Translation and Transculturalism.” On the other hand, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mihrican Aylanç from CIU, opened a new methodological door in contemporary literary studies with her article entitled “The Rebirth of the Wild Woman in Betül Tarıman's Poetry.”

Regarding other works published in this issue, editor Karadağ stated that: “This issue will attract attention with its scientific content thanks to Suzana Marjanić, one of the important names in the field of folklore in Croatia, who authored “Conspiracy Theories as Urban Legends with a Paranoid Matrix,” also a respected folklore scholar from Nigeria, Prof. Dr. Segun Omosul who authored “The Nexus between Performance, Aesthetics and Philosophical Motifs in Indigenous Festivals”; and last but not least thanks to Dr. Bamband Riadi from Indonesia who is featured with his article “The Values of Local Wisdom in Lampung Folklore: A Piil Pesenggiri Perspective.”

Noting that there are 12 research articles, a book review and a commemorative article in this issue, Karadağ said that the electronic version of the journal can be accessed at https://www.folkloredebiyat.org  and also Dergipark website.
